Academy Award-winning filmmaker and world-class mountaineer, Jimmy Chin is today’s modern day Superman with a camera. He captures photographs other people wouldn’t dare try to, risking his life for the perfect frame. Chin’s new book There and Back draws from an entire career of breath-taking photographs, from the side of a cliff in Yosemite National Park, to the top of the world on Mount Everest, even Heli Snowboarding in the Arctic Tundra of the Kamchatka Peninsula. Chin gives intimate behind-the-scenes details about how he captures these astounding images in impossible conditions, and tells the stories of the legendary adventurers and remarkable athletes he has photographed. This image is of a daredevil climber on one of the fingers of the Hand of Fatima, in Mali, West Africa.

Acclaimed New York street photographer, James Douglas originally hails from Melbourne, Australia but he tells get lost he's always felt more comfortable in and amongst the real winter-time hustle of lower Manhattan. Douglas has an innate ability to capture the hidden, fleeting moments of both people and place in the Big Apple with effortless grace. We love the juxtaposition of a street chess tournament being played out in one of the busiest intersections in the world. You can check out more of Douglas’ shots at orchardstphotos.com

The Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, Morocco is one of the largest in all of Africa. Its dramatic location is both simultaneously imposing and beautiful. With its unmistakable Minaret standing 210 metres tall, travel photographer Rodrigo Lodi has managed to perfectly frame the entire structure using some of the delicate architecture from the outside courtyard. As the sun sets on its facade, two birds are also snapped dancing in the fading light.
Congratulations to Rodrigo Lodi for winning our Frame Your View competition. Rodrigo has scored an Olympus camera for entering this incredible shot.
