WHERE I WANT TO BE IN 2023

ROB LA TERRA

A 2023 European summer is the first thing that springs to mind, or is it island hopping through the Caribbean? Warm weather seems to be the trend, and can you blame me after what has seemed like an eternal Melbourne winter? For clarity, I'm writing this in late-Spring.

But alas, mojitos in Havana will have to wait because New York City is my number one destination on my travel list for 2023.

I'm almost embarrassed to say I've never been, even though it's been at the top of my list for, well, forever. Watch this space...

CHECK OUT FIJI — OPEN WATERS

TIM McGLONE

It's easy to end up feeling like we need a holiday in between the holiday finishing and work re-starting. In 2023 I want a trip that is both unostentatious and hedonistic; night-time ragers and daytime exploring followed by a week or two of time slowing right down.

Mexico is a place that offers this contrast. I want to drink tequila and dive cenotes around Yucatan for a while and then decompress with some books, some waves, quality company and a quality hammock in a little village somewhere quiet.

CHECK OUT CANADA — INTO THE GREAT UNKNOWN

TAYLA GENTLE

After a couple of years spent grounded at home, I’m craving a year of serious cultural immersion. The more I can learn, the better. After all, what’s travel good for if it’s not to throw you in the deep end and broaden your take on the world?

High on my bucket list is the pilgrimage around Mount Kailash in Tibet (dependent on international borders, obvs). Believed to be the Axis Mundi aka the cosmic axis or centre of the world, this mountain range in the Tibetan plateau is sacred in four religions: Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Bon.
