Few places on earth compare with Cuba — an isolated, communist, frozen-in-time island nation. A country with a seemingly endless collection of vintage American automobiles, some of the best-preserved Spanish colonial architecture, and world renowned cigars and rum.
So when American documentary travel photographer, designer, and author, Michael Chinnici, fell in love with the Cuban culture, he decided to create Vanishing Cuba, a stunning 348-page, visual storytelling large-format photo book showcasing 300 of his favorite images. The collection depicts the changes Cuba faces as it emerges from more than 60 years of isolation and decay. Vanishing Cuba - by Red Octopus Publishing - is about capturing the past, present, and future of a Cuba that is changing by the second. Photojournalist and author Nori Jemil documented the painstaking preparation by the Castellers of London for the Concurs de Castells festival in Catalonia. Held every two years in Tarragona, the monumental event featuring ‘human towers’ sees an influx of international teams participate over two days alongside the Spanish region’s elite team. The best of the best can build towers up to ten people high. Jemil’s new travel photography book, The Travel Photographer’s Way, explains how storytelling is the most fundamental part of the travel photojournalist’s job, bringing a narrative together, beyond the single image. On a solo, around-the-world photography excursion (which we think sounds pretty rad!) traveller Daniel Wan was lucky to witness the exceptionally rare blood moon eclipse at Lanterna Punta della Dogana. As construction on the famous canal city started as early as the 5th century, we're pretty sure this isn’t the first time our moon has been framed so perfectly against this iconic Italian backdrop.
