SEA PODS

Imagine living above the middle of the ocean.

Ocean Builders are a company based in Central America, specialising in marine technology. They’re currently building a new kind of home, one that hangs two metres above the sea.

SeaPods are futuristic-looking capsules made of fibreglass, taking up 833 square feet of living space above the water – space that used to be filled by thin air.

The aim is to make sustainable living spaces from as many materials that are as kind to Mother Earth as possible. Groceries and essentials are to be delivered by drones and other technology, and getting about is done by jet-skis, water taxis and dinghys.

The SeaPods are currently available for purchase, as are their siblings, the GreenPod (land-based) and the GreenPod (cheaper and even more eco-conscious).

The future is here.

PEACE IN A POD

OAKLEY

The Special Section of this issue takes a look at 15 of the best snow experiences to be found in the U.S. If you’re going to be taking on these slopes, you’ll want to be kitted out, and Oakley have you covered.

Stale Sandbech is the flying Norwegian who specialises in the Big Air format, and has partnered with Oakley in designing some gear. The result is some really lit snow outfits.

You’ll look unbelievably badass hurling down the slopes in the Camouflage TC Gunn Shell 2L jacket and pants combo, and even more so if you combine that with the Line Miner glasses featuring Prizm technology.

DIDN’T SEE THAT ONE COMING

DJI AVATA

Drone giants DJI just keep on taking it up a notch.

The brand new DJI Avata (released August 25) follows on from the launch of the DJI Mini Pro which was featured in get lost’s most recent issue.

Whereas the Mini Pro was a lightweight drone designed to circumvent many countries’ registration rules, the Avata is a much bigger, First-Person View (FPV) drone, allowing you to see exactly what the drone sees. The design allows for stabler, crisper and more cinematic footage compared to other DJI drones.

TAKE IT TO NEW HEIGHTS

NEW BALANCE 550S

The ‘Dad Shoe’ but with a twist.

For years, New Balance have been churning out sneakers for Dads to mow the lawn in, paint the fence in, check the form guide in and head to the pub in. And that’s just the one sneaker.

The brand new New Balance 550s are an upgrade on the original Dad Shoe, blending modern technology with soft cushioning and a cool design (in various colours) to create a go-to shoe for the cool, travelling Dad – whether that’s walking a few kilometres at Disney Land, hitting the streets of London, shooting hoops in New York or heading out for a drink.

GOOD FOR THE SOLE

NON-ALCOHOLIC COCKTAIL

Alright, we know. Drinking a 0% cocktail probably isn’t as good as the real thing.

But you know what is good? Drinking cocktails with locals in a tiny Vietnamese village before actually being able to get on your motorbike again and driving off. Or waking up the next day after a party on the beach in Thailand without a head that feels like a 1 tonne block of cement and even the slightest noise sounding like a Formula One car. When you’re flying home and feel like downing a cocktail or seven, you may even catch your flight, so long as you use Drummer Boy straights.

get lost tried the Italian Rosso in a negroni as well as a London Dry Gin, and loved it. AND didn’t wake up with a hangover. Winning.

UNBEATABLE

MONOS METRO DUFFEL

There’s nothing more hectic when you’re trying to figure things out in a new city than juggling a few bags, while also simultaneously trying to check your phone after a long flight, work out how to get out of the airport AND hailing a cab.

The Monos Metro Duffel is the solution to this. Not only is this duffel bag very, very cool, it is designed to connect to the top of your suitcase, giving you one less thing to think about when you arrive somewhere.

It’s 100% vegan, if you’re into that, and its big enough to fit some clothes, a laptop, a water bottle and other tech like an iPad or a camera.

Much like Apple products, you’ll need a Monos suitcase for it to fit … but luckily for you, they’re pretty cool as well.
